Our Main Gate is manned by a Security guard 24 hours, seven days a week.
The gate is however locked between 19H00 and 07H00
Guests must sign in at arrival at the gate
The Guard will announce your arrival to Reception.
If guests are delayed en-route to us for whatsoever reason, they call the lodge to make arrangements for late arrival.
The guard is available to unlock the gate between 19H00 and 07H00 and allow guests entry to the farm

Guests are requested to report to Reception upon arrival at the Lodge.
Once checked in and your luggage placed in your room/s, kindly park your vehicle in the shaded parking area near Reception. Please close all windows and lock your vehicles.

Due to the remote location of the lodge, the availability and strength of wi-fi cannot be guaranteed. We do provide free wi-fi at public areas:
Hilltop boma
Main deck
Guests are requested not to stream, download updates, send photo’s or videos.

Guests are requested to lock their rooms while when not inside.
Please close the doors to prevent small animals to enter.
We provide a Night Porter service that is roaming the Lodge area to ensure all occupants are safe.

We do stock a variety of items in our curio shop. Reception staff will assist you.

Any outstanding payments for accommodation must be settled at Reception upon arrival.
We have a single payment point at the lodge. All activities, drinks, meals, activities and other services can be paid at Reception at check out.
Card facilities are available.

Porters are on duty at Reception. They will move your luggage to and from your room.
Please report to Reception if your require the Porter service upon check-out

The Lodge offers full restaurant services at the Main Lodge for all guests and at special occasions at the Hilltop Boma.
We provide meals on a “Fixed Menu” bases, not a-la-cart, served either on the Main Deck or Restaurant (depending on the weather)
Breakfasts – buffet
Lunch – light lunches
Dinner – three course fine dining dinner
Guests with special dietary requirements and/or restrictions should ensure they announce the requirements at the time of booking and at arrival.

Full bar service at the main deck bar is available.
Use of private liquor is not allowed .

Two swimming pools are available, one at the Main Deck and one at Hilltop.
Guests swim at own risk
Children under 12 must be supervised by and adult
Diving or jumping in the pools are not allowed
Guests are not to use room towels for swimming. We supply different towels for swimming.

We have our own “Uber” service to transfer guests from Reception to Hilltop and back.
Please report to Reception for an Uber ride.
A lazy walk to and from Hilltop is always good for exercise.

Full Laundry service is available. Please use the basket and laundry list in the rooms, but also report to Reception if you require the service.

Guest that require transfer to and from the Lodge can make contact with our Central Reservations to arrange.

Okutala Lodge is well known for its Banded Mogoose’s, Rhino’s and pet Giraffe that roam freely in the lodge from time to time.

The golden rules are:

  • Keep your room doors closed to prevent the Mongoose entering your room
  • Keep a safe distance between you and the animals, especially the Giraffe and Rhino
  • Do not feed the animals
  • BUT, take a lot of pictures
